Icefields Parkway

Rated as amongst the worlds most spectacular drives, we travelled it by coach - in the rain!  Botheration!  Never mind, it wasnt a complete loss, because the clouds would often part to reveal the mountains for us.  So we can only imagine how gob-smacking it would be with the sun shining.

It was drizzling with rain for our walk on Athabasca Glacier in the Colombian Icefields.  We were lucky it wasnt cancelled -  it was slushy and slippery, so guess what? I clung to the vehicle and left the walk up to Alan.  It was about -5 deg up there, so half an hour was plenty!

I left the walk to “Big Foot Al”

We cant  see what the attraction is of risking life and limb in freezing slush!! Anyway, we did it, and we’ll go down in history as being able to walk on this glacier, which is fast receding in the warming climate.

An we continue along the Parkway and even get a sighting of a black bear.
