Blues Brews and BBQ

Skagway minus cruise ships!  This was taken at 9pm, just as the midges were starting to bite!  The pic is taken from the water line looking up Skagway valley.

This evening we went to a local music festival, held at the far end of town, well away from the cruise ships, the crowd being more of a mix of locals, hikers, RV campers, the seasonal workers (mainly uni students) with a spattering of loan tourists like us.  We had a lot of fun picking which was which - sometimes just by looking at their shoes!

Sheldon would have been very proud of this guy - we watched in wonder as from his small backpack he magically clicked a few little pieces together to create this nifty little chair!  This must be how geeks go camping!

This guy is eating bbq corn cob - which by the way was so popular they were the first items of food to sell out.

We could only squat on the grass as we didnt have camping chairs - Looks like these guys cycled here then from their backpacks slung hammocks between the trees.  They dont look easy things to get in!

Much to our surprise the BBQ food was delicious - we had BBQ smoked ribs with some of the best potato salad ever!  The only dessert on offer was Crab Sliders with whipped cream and berries!  Oh My!  It looked awful, especially the lettuce with it!  It must be an Alaskan thing, should have tried it, but just couldn’t quite bring myself to! 😧
