We just had to get on with it - no good just sitting in a hotel room. So we got out the brollies to explore Whistler. Nice snow resort village that also caters well for summer adventurers too. Gave the trail bike riding and zip lining a miss (!!!!) and instead rode the gondola up to the top of Whistler mountain. We could look down on our hotel through the clouds!
Wait - there’s more - from here we caught another gondola - the Peak to Peak - between the summits of Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. It boast the worlds longest continuous lift system, the longest span is just over 3km long and is also the worlds highest at 436m above the valley floor. Knowing my trepidation of heights, I was a bit dubious, but my saviour was the clouds, which masked the height at first. But I was ok, even walking around the gondola taking photos! Well done me!!
Time for lunch. As the clouds broke for an hour or so we had lunch at the top of the mountain - another first - Poutine - Canadas most famous fast food: a bowl of chips, scattered with chunks of cheese then smothered in gravy. You can also “add protein”. We tried the pulled beef, and the pulled pork.
All I will say is that it tastes like it looks. (And we wont be tasting it again!!!!)
Just as we got back down the mountain rain settled in for the rest of the day: so time to catch up on the blog and some book reading.
